Many violin shops hesitate to work on basses, but Mark welcomes this special work. He apprenticed from 1972-1973 with the violin maker Paul Schuback. Since that time he has worked on instruments in Ann Arbor, Interlochen Arts Camp, and his home town of Flint. Mark has over 49 years of experience working on stringed instruments, but he has even more experience as a musician. He has a B.A. from the University of Michigan in double bass performance and has played in many orchestras including the Flint Youth
