The Historic Matthews Reid House is located at 134 West John Street in downtown Matthews, North Carolina. It was built in 1890 by Edward Solomon Reid and is one of the few remaining Victorian houses in the area.
The Reid House is owned and operated by The Matthews Historical Foundation and available for rental for special occasions. Charming and quaint, it has been the setting for numerous weddings and receptions, parties, dinners, and Victorian teas. It is a great venue for outdoor weddings, reunions, parties, meetings, wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, showers, and special events. Adding historical significance to Matthews, it is truly one of the area's "best kept secrets."�
The Reid House was voted the 2019 Best Local Historic Site in the Charlotte Media Group Contest, run in the South Charlotte Weekly, Union County Weekly, and Matthews-Mint Hill Weekly. The Reid House won this award in 2016, 2017, and 2018 making this the fourth year they received the award!! The Reid House and the Matthews Heritage Museum are owned and operated by the Matthews Historical Foundation. Thank you to all who support us!
