This unique ensemble dates back to the 1960s, when Mr. Robert Phillips began collecting music for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Phillips traveled the world, visiting obscure publishers to assemble one of the most diverse collections of music anywhere.
In 2000, the group took the name “Meridian Bones” to reflect that the ensemble has been resident for many years at North United Methodist Church in Indianapolis for many years. This fabulous landmark sits at the prominent intersection of 38th and Meridian streets. One definition of “meridian” is “the highest point in the sky reached by the sun or another celestial body; a zenith.” We strive to live up to that definition.
Today Meridian bones performs regularly for the enjoyment of the public and for the promotion of awareness of trombones and trombone ensemble music. We hope to perform for you or your organization soon.
