On September 4, 2015, in accordance with the decision of the Academic Council of the Tambov State Rachmaninov Musical Pedagogical Institute (Protocols no. 7 from July 03 2013 and no. 3 from March 25 2015) College at the Institute was named after a prominent pianist and teacher, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, People's Artist of the USSR, Professor Emeritus of Tambov State Rachmaninov Musical Pedagogical Institute Victor Karpovich Merzhanov.
