Welcome to the home page of the Natchez Historical Society. Organized in 1954, the Society is dedicated to the historical study of Natchez, Mississippi and the surrounding area. The local history spans an exceptionally long timeline from the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians to the present day city atop the high bluffs of the Father of Waters, the mighty Mississippi River. Regular meetings of the Society include lectures and discussions held at the Historic Natchez Foundation , located at 108 South Commerce Street. Such events are scheduled on the fourth Tuesday of the months of January, February, March, April, September, October, and November. Notices of meetings are published in the local newspaper and also sent to members. Membership in the Society is presently about 150. Annual dues for members are $20 per person and $35 per couple.
