Description: Neptune in June is an experimental, contemporary curatorial and community arts project based in Port Chester, NY. We produce exhibitions across the U.S., and offer workshops, performances, and other public art events in partnership with fellow art spaces, schools, and community service groups.
Neptune in June operates as an open, living question that asks what it means to consider oneself part of a community in its wholeness, perenniality, and history. In the same breath, we validate genuine curiosity and fascination with something new, when deepened through embedded, sensorial, and cognizant experiences.
We are proudly based in Port Chester, NY. Originally nicknamed “Saw Pit” until the 1830s, Port Chester was known for its boat-building craftsmen in the early days after English settlement, and continues to be a haven for builders and entrepreneurs of all sorts today. Right on the border of Connecticut and New York, it houses the Capitol Theatre (listed on the National Register of Historic Places), our arts neighbors at Clay Art Center and MAPSpace, and is a 10-minute drive to SUNY Purchase College.
