The current New York State Poet Laureate is Alice Ostriker . Alicia was born in New York City. She has won many awards for her poetry and in 2015 she was elected Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets. She has taught in the low-residency Poetry MFA program of Drew University and New England College. Alicia is currently a professor emerita of English at Rutgers University.
