The development program is for players who are interested in the next level of soccer. These teams have 1-2 dedicated practice nights as well as a game night. Teams play in the DSL (Durham Soccer League) and have a 50/50 split of home and way games. Skill development is the primary goal for these age brackets. The emphasis is still FUN. All players play equal time and try all team positions, including goalkeeping.
Competitive players have a primary focus on learning the finer points of team formation and tactical skills. Player skill development is still a part of their training regime. Competitive teams practice typically 2 nights a week and have a dedicated game night. Teams play in the DSL (Durham Soccer League) and have a 50/50 split of home and away games. Teams now play 11 v 11 on full size fields with 90-minute games.
Indoor Soccer is a fun and fast-paced game played on indoor turf (U7 to adult). A smaller net is used and the ball may be played off the walls. This is a game of constant transition so players are always actively involved in the game. This game really improves a players touch on the ball as well as ball handling skills. Games are 2 twenty-five minute halves with substitutions allowed at any point in the game.
