2023 saw the birth of the Daydream Festival. Classic Indie Rock travelling around Australia. Modest Mouse was the headliner and that was enough to get me along. Sadly for many fans Slowdive were a late withdrawal, although not for me. So I ventured to the Hordern Pavilion on Saturday night to check it out and I came away very pleased. Then Modest Mouse closed proceedings and I was super excited as they are one of my all time favourite bands. I have seen them before but it's a been a while. They started spectacularly with the opening two songs from their classic debut album. Of course being a veteran band they have a large catalogue, which also means that their later albums are a bit inconsistent in quality. So even though it's expected they would play latter day songs I though the set list was a little lacking with not many classic songs
