Postdoctoral Researcher
My name is Oliver Long and I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute) in Potsdam, Germany. I am a member of the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) Consortium, the LIGO Scientific Collaboration (LSC), the Simulating eXtreme Spacetimes (SXS) collaboration and a contributor to the Black Hole Perturbation Toolkit .
My research involves the development of theoretical models of gravitational self-force for unbound binary orbits within General Relativity. My PhD thesis was titled “Self-force for hyperbolic black hole encounters” and my supervisors were Prof. Leor Barack (primary) and Dr. Adam Pound (secondary). Funding for my project was provided by EPSRC.
