While sharing has always been a part of city life, there has been an unprecedented acceleration in sharing innovation in the past decade, due largely to increased access to information and communications technology. Goods, services, spaces, experiences, skills and capital are increasingly being shared as part of a new global movement. This is an opportunity for local government but also presents some challenges because the Sharing Economy often falls within regulatory and legal grey areas.
