Paul Kang is an ophthalmologist, medical missionary, and impact entrepreneur. Dr. Kang’s motivation to become an eye doctor was sparked by growing up with a blind father. For more than 15 years he was a leading eye surgeon in the Washington DC area at the Eye Doctors of Washington . Paul grew up with a blind father, Young Woo Kang . Young Woo was born in a small South Korean town at a time when modern medicine was not available. As a result, he became blind from a soccer accident at the age of 16. Despite this tragedy, Young Woo became a prominent international disability rights advocate and author whose life story was the subject of several motion pictures and books. Paul’s experience with his father brings a unique perspective to his profession and approach to life. His mother, Kyoung Sook Kang, is a disability rights advocate and retired teacher for the visually impaired. His brother, Christopher Kang, is a public service attorney. Paul currently lives in Connecticut with his wife and children.
