PELUM Association was founded (1995) and established in Zimbabwe. In 2004 PELUM Association Regional Desk (RD) relocated to Lusaka, Zambia. Since work began, PELUM has grown to cover much of East and Southern Africa as a functioning network of Country Working Groups (CWGs) operating in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Botswana, Lesotho, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Rwanda.
The foundation of PELUM is built on values that were developed during the conception phase. These values guide how the organisation operates and determines whom PELUM can partner with. PELUM works in partnership with and seeks support from those organisations who share these values including people-centred development,empowerment of land users, respect for indigenous knowledge, creativity and innovation,commitment to action and impact,support for the struggle against exploitative practices, gender sensitive
