The greatest revolution in modern history was the introduction of the theory of evolution principally attributed to Charles Darwin. Drawing on paleoontological discoveries and the experience of plant and animal breeders, Darwin replaced creation stories which saw the source of the world as the work of an ancient creator with a long slow process of evolution which suggests that the world creates itself.
