Providing profiles of the atmospheric layer closest to the Earth’s surface where we all live impacts weather, air quality, and climate. Recent technological development for ground-based remote sensing instruments provides high-quality profiles of atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) parameters such as temperature, humidity, wind, aerosol, and cloud properties.

PROBE is a new initiative funded by the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) . PROBE will bridge between user needs and the science and technology expertise residing in industry and academia and will strengthen and harmonize methods to get higher quality ABL observations.
