Project Prosperity is a comprehensive initiative launched by Pearl Dairy Farms Limited (PDFL) that aims to unlock the full potential of the agriculture sector in East Africa, starting with the dairy and apiculture subsectors in Uganda. The initiative is designed to attract and distribute international investments to reach farmers at the bottom of the agricultural value chains, with the goal of stimulating the local economy and improving the livelihoods of farmers in the region.
Africa, as a continent, is abundant in natural resources and boasts a young and dynamic population. However, the lack of investment in local processing and value addition to these resources has resulted in high levels of underdevelopment and poverty. In Uganda, a country known as the pearl of Africa, 72% of the population relies on agriculture for employment and livelihoods.
