There are two ways into Queenscliff. One is via The Narrows, a skinny strip of land bound by Swan Bay and Port Phillip Bay that carries both the road and rail tracks. An avenue of tall trees form a green guard of honour and you know you’re headed somewhere special. The other is on board Searoad Ferries, the car and passenger ferry from Sorrento. Queenscliff Harbour is the starting point for all sorts of seaborne adventure. Fishing charters drop a line in the bay or in the deeper waters of Bass Strait. Divers depart for seawalls or sunken sites that are home to diverse and colourful marine life. Sea All Dolphin Swims cruise Port Phillip Bay where wildlife can be spotted, either on or in the water. Looking out over it all is the spectacular 360Q restaurant and event space.
From Queenscliff Train Station you can kick off another rocking (and rolling) party, The Blues Train. Operating most weekends from August to May, the vintage steam train chugs across The Bellarine to Drysdale.
