Exploring Satellites Around Galactic Analogs
We identify 127 satellites around 36 SAGA hosts. The total number of satellites (M r < −12.3) per host ranges from 0 to 9. This number modestly correlates with host galaxy luminosity, and more strongly with the brightest satellite luminosity.
For the first time, dozens of complete satellite luminosity functions down to M r = −12.3 of Milky Way analogs have been measured. The satellite luminosity function of the Milky Way is consistent with being drawn from the same distribution as the SAGA systems.
