(사)산해문화는 문학교육과 문예창작지원 및 인접 인문분야와의 교류 통섭으로 이 땅과 이 시대의 문화예술을 창달 발전시키는 데 이바지함을 설립의 제일의로 삼으며 2011년 3월 출범했습니다. 주소지인 영양군 석보면 두들마을은 주자학의 한국적 완성태인 퇴계학의 성지에서 멀지 않은 곳이며, 퇴계학을 수학한 전통이 여전히 숨 쉬고 있습니다. 유교문화권이라는 지역 분류방식이 규정하는 지역성과 향토문화를 적극 수용하고 발전시켜 문화 패러다임의 탐색에 활용해 볼 수도 있다는 점을 (사)산해문화는 주목하고 있습니다. 특히, 유교문화권의 전통과 유산이 원숙하게 반영된 문학, 유가적 글쓰기로 상정해 볼 수 있는 지향과 시도는 한국이 딛고 선 든든한 기반이 되고, 국가간의 무한경쟁에 대응하는 세련된 문화적 책략이 될 수도 있다고 보고 문학교육, 창작지원, 지역사회를 위한 활동을 전개하고 있습니다.
