Description: The SMCA, established in 1993, is the original Small Munsterlander Breed Club in North America. The SMCA is dedicated to preserving the versatility of our breed true to the F.C.I. Small Munsterlander Standard of the breed as set forth by the German Verband for Kleine Munsterlander and adopted by the FCI.

The Small Munsterlander is first and foremost a versatile hunting dog and natural retriever with a medium range, solid pointing instinct, and strong desire for the water. Small Munsterlanders have excellent tracking abilities for all types of work after the shot. These qualities are enhanced by intelligence and trainability.
The Club encourages and promotes the breeding of pure-bred Small Munsterlanders and to do all possible to bring their natural versatile hunting qualities to perfection for the foot hunter. SMCA Cooperative Breeders are your sole source for the highest quality Small Munsterlander from solid hunting stock. The Club's Breed Council monitors and supports Club breeders with the intent of maintaining the historical characteristics of the breed and improving the quality of the Small Munsterlander in America.
