Our Pasifika Fono was held last Wednesday 19 July, in our school library. This was a chance to come together with families, share time getting to know each other and talk about some of the aspirations for our children's education here at Somerville.
We were so lucky to have Penisuiti Iese Quennell Tatā as our guest speaker. Penisuiti is in his fourth and final year as a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Auckland. He was part of the Apollo Programme - an initiative to help boost the Māori and Pacific engineering workforce. Penisuiti was inspirational when sharing his experiences from his time at intermediate and high school, as well as his ongoing navigation through university life.
