What will it take to ensure a safe climate? What currently undeveloped solutions do we need to get there?
To start bending the curve on global warming, we must cut all methane emissions we possibly can as fast as we can. At the same time, we must invest heavily in developing new solutions, and improving our understanding of and response to rising natural methane emissions.
There's growing evidence that natural methane emissions are increasing as a result of climate change, creating a potentially dangerous warming feedback loop. The new research field of atmospheric methane removal is working to determine if methane can be safely and efficiently removed from the atmosphere at-scale so as to slow climate feedback loops.
