The NSC is based on a Foundation established more than two decades ago by South Australian footballer Neil Sachse, who was left a quadriplegic after an on-field collision during a Victorian Football League game in 1975. Never one to be defined by his injury, Neil dedicated his life to establishing research into spinal cord injuries.
