Fck'n Nuts is an absurdist horror comedy short film from writer-director Sam Fox and creative producer Joe Badon ( The Blood of the Dinosaurs ). Inspired by her own experience of growing up with an insane family as a young girl, it turns an awkward meet-the-parents scenario into something much more grotesque and disturbing as Sandy tries to break it off with her new boyfriend.
The unsettling short stars Maddie Nichols as Sandy, whose lollipop styling makes her seem like she could've been in Sucker Punch with a possible reference to pink lady, Olivia Newton John, in Grease . Vincent Stalba plays opposite her as new beau, Dan, who channels a character who seems to have been inspired by the likes of Norman Bates and Crispin Glover. Immersing themselves in the pure insanity of the moment, they keep things grounded as bizarre turns into crazy.
Taking a Halloweenesque theme with a nod to John Carpenter's horror classic, Fck'n Nuts has a similar vibration to The Guest starring Dan Stevens and Maika Monroe but cranked up to 11. A modest film production, Fox uses lighting to create a creepy and sickly atmosphere for the story to unfold as a slice of Americana goes from 1950s dandy to hell. Leveraging the campier side of things, it heightens the otherworldly nature of its world as things run the risk of ridiculous as The Rock type body horror ensues.
