Marco Gordijn and Koen van den Berg started Starlit Sea in 2000, influenced by bands like R.E.M., and basing their sound on the instruments they had at hand - acoustic guitars, vocals and the occassional cello, and even a string quarter. They released a selection of songs on the 2001 CD “The Homemade Demos”. The band went through various member changes in the beginning of the 2010's, with Jeroen Dorreleijers joining on lead guitar in 2009, Steve Lewis on cello in 2011, Emile Schreuder as the drummer in 2013
