Description: Studio D - David is an interdisciplinary artist, working across media and styles, with strands of ecology, performative art, abstract and figurative art, the written word and assemblage.
Often influenced by abstract expressionism and contemporary figurative artists, David's work connects to his role as an art psycho therapist, expressing feeling and experience, places and events and giving voice to memory and the unconscious .
Drawing inspiration from a broad range of styles and artists, David works in mixed media including acrylics, watercolour, found objects and digital artwork.
David has gained useful experience across diverse industries: he studied and worked in hospitality before achieving an honours degree in theology in 1991 and was then ordained into the Church of England. Following a radical change of perspective, he studied graphic design and illustration from 1998 to 2000, and worked as a commercial illustrator before running arts-in-health programmes across two NHS healthcare trusts from 2007 to 2016 as part of his work as an acute healthcare hospital chaplain.
