European legislation is setting tighter limits on emissions from Diesel Vehicles In order to reduce air pollution. Two of the main pollutants are Particulate Matter (PM) and Nitrogen Oxides (NOx).
As a result the EU have introduced Euro IV and Euro V, to help control emission of pollutants. The Euro IV standards were implemented from Oct. 2005 to Oct. 2006 and Euro V from Oct. 2008 to Oct. 2009. Emission limits for NOx is 3.5 g/kWh in Euro IV and 2.0 g/kWh in EuroV.
