Born and raised in Singapore, Raey left home alone in 2014 to pursue her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons.) at York University in Canada. Her drive and ambition has led her to repeated festival success, such as Recollection (2019), Reprise (2019) and Anna (2021). She aims to make films that could be understood universally, with the hope that it could make you feel less alone.
She often says, “theatre is my first love, but film is what I chose to make a lifelong commitment to.” She is also an avid writer, be it prose, poetry or screenplays. She hopes to win Singapore’s first Oscar in exchange for free chye tow kueh (her favourite dish from back home)
