Hi there - my name is Thom Elston. I’m a postdoctoral fellow working in the Wallis Lab at the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute at UC Berkeley. Scientifically, my ultimate goal is to understand how the prefrontal cortex enables flexible, intelligent behavior. The two questions I am most interested in are: how do we learn from our experiences and think differently? how are thoughts translated into actions?
I am a neuroscientist at U.C. Berkeley, where my work explores how the prefrontal cortex of non-human primates interacts with the rest of the brain during cognition. My ultimate goal is to create cognitive brain-machine interfaces which will enable us to decode and interact with cognition in real time.
