What would it look like if people were allowed to talk openly about what it’s like to have a body? The Vagina Monologues is a theater play, written by American author Eve Ensler, that answers this question over and over again. Developed from interviews with over 200 people, this play is presented as a series of monologues meant to showcase the wide range of experiences than can stem from being a woman or simply having a vagina (as these two concepts are not always related). The Vagina Monologues in Prague 2020 is a beneficiary production. The proceedings from our performances will go to a local NGO Konsent. Konsent is an NGO that was established in 2015 to produce a positive change in the Czech approach towards sexual violence and rape culture.
Their team focuses on the prevention of rape and sexual harassment through education about what constitutes those and what the consequences are. They teach people of all ages, school students included, that sex should always be based on the agreement of all partners and that flirting should be pleasant for everyone involved.
