There are times in life when you simply find yourself in the right place at the right time. You walk by a theater at two in the afternoon and score free movie tickets. You send your resume out to an HR exec, who happens to be in an inspired mood and perusing her emails just as you hit the send button. Or maybe you turn a corner in Osaka and walk into a collection of a thousand teenage girls, dressed in their kawaii finery and waiting with bated breath to worship at the altar of their favorite J-pop boy band
During our first full day in Osaka, Jeffrey and I were walking along a sakura-lined river, when we turned a quick corner and ran into these three lovely ladies. They were dressed in near-identical, color-coordinated outfits. They were wearing tiaras. They were my Dreamgirls . I immediately asked if I could take a photo, and they happily obliged, flashing me their best peace signs and smiles.
