Ashland 4-H Trapshooting

The League was formed in 1953 by members of the Wahoo, Ashland, Springfield and Papillion Gun Clubs. Commissioners were Ted Haney (Wahoo), Dallas Hunt (Ashland), Bill Sass (Springfield), and George Beerline (Papillion). Lee Wagner (Ashland) was elected secretary. Other members present were Bert Rager (Ashland), Oscar Reece (Ashland)MauriceWard, H. Cordes, B. Hansen, G. Fudge, George Satterfield and Leaders. The “B” is believed to have been added after Bellevue Rod and Gun Club joined.
The first shoot was held in April 1953 at the Papillion Gun Club shooting at 25 targets from the 18 yard line. Today the league shoots at six different clubs: Ashland Gun Club, Bellevue Rod and Gun Club, Lincoln Trap and Skeet Club, Papillion Gun Club, Otoe County Wildlife Club, and the Valley Trap Range. The shooting program is 50 16-yard targets shot at each of the clubs during the summer. Scores will be posted on the club’s bulletin board. Each shooter should verify that their scores are correct. Ties for trophies are decided by a card draw. Trophies can be picked up at the subsequent shoot. Shoot results are posted on the WASP-B website (waspbleague.com).
