The West Highland Museum was founded in 1922 by a group of Lochaber folk who wished to create a museum for the West Highlands, second to none in Scotland.
There was no museum building and no collection, only a great dream.
The museum has operated as an independent museum for over a century with FREE entry to the museum since 2011. We rely on visitor donations and shop sales to keep us open.
