Westside Hoops Maui is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, youth basketball organization. By the grace of God, we are truly blessed as a community based organization comprised of a team of dedicated volunteers along with the blessings of a group of independent Christian business people and community leaders that are dedicated to the development of the youth on Maui. Westside Hoops Maui complies with all 501(c)(3) rules and regulations. As such, all donations to Westside Hoops Maui are tax exempt.
Westside Hoops was born out of a father’s desire to help his son obtain the opportunity to play basketball while attaining a college education. It became clear that year around training and trips to the mainland to participate in intense fundamentals coaching was the only way to achieve this goal. What started as a journey between father and son in 2006, has become a program to help other basketball players, starting in sixth grade, achieve that same opportunity.
With strong community support, from both businesses and individuals, both on Maui and the mainland, Westside Hoops is able to provide student athletes with the tools they need to succeed both on and off the court. From weight training and ball handling drills, to tutoring and social media policing, student athletes are pushed to build physical strength and, more importantly strength of character.
