Whittles is a small private farm strip it is shown on the air maps situated approximately 3 miles to the North West of Reading.
The airstrip has been in use for many years and forms part of Mapledurham Estate. It is home to 3 resident aircraft each of which is housed in a custom built T hangar.
The grass runway is a little over 380 meters in length and just under 15 meters wide, so clearly it is more suited to Microlights or aircraft with a good STOL capability. The orientation is 29/11 and it’s 350 feet AMSL. There is a hedge at the Eastern end and a turning circle at the Western end. If you are landing from the West you should plan to touch down just past the turning circle to avoid a slight step in the runway.
