Whole Life Carbon (WLC) is an emerging methodology in built environment consultancy. The functional objective of WLC is to quantify the through-life carbon emissions of all facets of the built environment, as to determine and pick design solutions that have the lowest embodied and operational emissions. WLC replaces the standard practice of focusing only on operational emissions of the scheme, making it a concrete step towards achieving true net-zero in the construction industry.
IMPACT compliant software allow for measurement of the embodied carbon, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and Life Cycle Costing (LCC) performance of schemes.
