James “Jim” Poston was a mystical artist whose transcendent work’s medium were acrylic, as well as pen and ink. He received his Bachelors of Arts from Colorado State University and his Masters of Arts from the University of Northern Arizona in 1979. After his graduation he accepted a position as a high school art teacher in Las Vegas, NV. His highly imaginative work is known for being elegant in its design, color & the use of perspective. Jim’s approach to art involved meticulous planning as he frequently created several pencil, as well as pen and ink sketches before commencing painting on canvas board. His art encourages the viewer to look at both; the micro and the macro details of his sensational world. He would often spend several weeks working on just a four-by-four inch section of his acrylic masterpieces. Vivid dreams, memories & poetry from his earlier years fueled much of his creativity.
