Steven is a European composer based in the UK. His work is performed internationally at festivals including the Darmstadt Ferienkurse, Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik, and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music festival, with leading ensembles such as the Arditti Quartet, Ensemble Recherche, Ensemble Modern, and Nikel.
Figures Outside a Dacha, with Snowfall, and an Abbey in the Background , a work for soloists, orchestra, and live electronics drawing on the transcendent final shot of Andrei Tarkovsky's Nostal ghia. Commissioned by WDR Symphonieorchester and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the piece was premièred in at the WDR Funkhaus in Köln, conducted by Manuel Nawri and e lectronics by Carl Faia, in January 2023.
